Veterans Administration Hospital Campus, Long Beach

Part of Building 1 at the Veterans Administration Hospital Campus, Long Beach. Cogstone conducted a field survey, recorded and evaluated historic-age buildings not previously recorded and evaluated. Building 1, built in 1942, is a reinforced concrete slab building constructed in the International Style and used as a hospital by the U.S. Navy. The building was designed by architect Claud W. Beelman, as were all of the original permanent buildings on the campus. Beelman was well-known in the Los Angeles area as a master of architectural modernism.
